Things to consider with clay plastering
Ask us about your specific project ahead of time.
Wet-areas and water
Clay plastering is great at regulating humidity, but is not meant to be directly exposed to water repeatedly. We recommend glass shower doors, backsplashes, and other ways to keep water from splashing on the surface repeatedly for maximum durability.
Protective clear coating
Applying a protective layer can seal the clay plastering in a waterproof shell, at the cost of losing its air quality improving effects. For situations like exterior applications and kitchen backsplashes, we can apply the clear coat on only the areas required.
No need for tape or texture
If you are remodeling, or planning your new construction, you can save a lot of time and money by planning for clay plastering. There is no need to tape or seal any gaps smaller than 1/2", so once your drywall is hung, we can handle the rest in most cases.
