How long does it take?
Depending on the surface and the material, it can take between a few hours to a full day to complete.
Is it dangerous or harmful?
Certainly not! While the products we use should be handled only by professionals, the way we handle them guarantees there is no risk to your health or well-being at all.
Do I need to do anything before you come?
We will send you a guide on how to prepare for our arrival for the best results when we book your bathtub refinishing. That said, here are some of the main things you can do, so you know ahead of time.
- Ensure leaky faucets are repaired or replaced
- Ensure the drain functions as it should
- Remove all loose items from the room
- Dust the room to keep dust from landing in the fresh coating
- If water and power are not available, we need to know ahead of time - the same goes for heat in cooler months
- If anyone in the home has respiratory issues, we recommend they find somewhere else to be for the day
- All walls must be sealed, so there is no open framing or areas where dust cannot be controlled
How do I take care of my shower once it's refinished?
We typically recommend a cleaning solution of 50% vinegar, and 50% warm water, with a few drops of dish soap applied with a spray bottle, and wiped with microfibre towels, though any standard non-abrasive bathroom cleaner will do.
Magic erasers are great for removing tough spots, and spray on Turtle Wax applied liberally every 3 to 4 months will extend of the life of the coating dramatically, though we recommend only waxing the shower floor if you opted for the non-slip coating add-on, as the floor can become quite slick otherwise.
Do I need to be home?
Nope! You are free to leave, and we will call you if we have any questions or problems.
When during my remodel should refinishing take place?
As a rule of thumb, refinishing is typically done after paint, before or after fixture replacement (toilet, vanity, etc), and before flooring. Working from the top to the bottom of a room is usually a safe bet.
Does the standard white match my other fixtures?
Unless you have antique fixtures, then it almost certainly does. American Standard White has been the standard uniform white for sinks, toilets, and tubs since the 80's and was commonplace well before that. If you have any doubts, get in contact, and we will see if custom color options are necessary for your project.
How do I pay?
You can pay with cash, check, or bank transfer, or for a 3% fee card fee, we also accept most debit and credit cards. If paying with cash, we ask you pay the technician on site, so it doesn't get lost in the mail.
