What is countertop refinishing?

Our countertop options fall under two main categories; refinishing, and microcementing. Each also have a myriad of options and customizations, so we can make your counters unique to how YOU want.

Countertop refinishing involves restoring the surface of your existing countertops by repairing chips, cracks, and scratches, then applying a durable, high-quality coating that gives your countertops a fresh, like-new appearance. This process is fast, cost-effective, and can be completed in just a few hours, offering an eco-friendly alternative to replacing your countertops.

Countertop microcementing is a modern, seamless solution that creates a sleek, contemporary finish. Microcement is a thin, flexible material applied directly over your existing countertops, providing a smooth, matte surface that’s highly durable, water-resistant, and easy to maintain. It’s ideal for home and business owners looking for a minimalist aesthetic with endless customization options in terms of color and texture.

Both options offer significant savings over full countertop replacement while improving the appearance and longevity of your surfaces, making them smart, sustainable choices for any kitchen, bathroom, bar, showroom, and more.

When should I have my countertops Refinished?

Countertop refinishing is an ideal solution when your countertops show signs of wear, such as scratches, chips, stains, or discoloration, but are still structurally sound. If your countertops are outdated or no longer match your style, refinishing can restore their appearance at a fraction of the cost of replacement. It’s also a great option if you’re looking to update your kitchen, bathroom, or business without the disruption and expense of a full renovation. Refinishing offers quick, durable results that bring new life to your surfaces, making it a smart, eco-friendly choice for homeowners looking to save time and money.

Additional customizations

Countertops are a centerpiece. Make yours unique with additional options.

Live-stone edge

Make your countertops look like they were cut from a piece of stone straight from the quarry. Ideal for countertops with manufactured rounded edges. Not compatible with Epoxy Countertops, or with any coatings going over existing composite countertops such as Coriann.

Durashield* protective coat

This nano technology coating will prevent scratches and scuffs from just about anything. Ideal for darker countertops where slight yellowing over time is not an issue. Not compatible with high gloss.

Travel and Lodging fees

Because Epoxy Countertops and Microcement Countertops take multiple days to complete, including some days where just a couple hours of work is needed, we ask you inquire as to these costs with us prior to booking.

Get a non-binding quote - usually within one business day.

Leave your contact information in the contact form, and tell us about your project. We never sell your information to advertisers - or anyone else.

How long does it take?

Traditional countertop refinishing with a solid color or Fauxstone finish typically takes just one day, custom epoxy countertops take between two and four days, and microcement and custom countertops can take two to five days or more. Ask us about your specific project.

Is it dangerous or harmful?

Certainly not! While the products we use should be handled only by professionals, the way we handle them guarantees there is no risk to your health or well-being at all. That said, if traditional refinishing with solid color or Fauxstone is being applied, anyone with respiratory issues or smell sensitivities may want to find somewhere else to be for the day.

Do I need to do anything before you come?

We will send you a guide on how to prepare for our arrival for the best results when we book with us. That said, here are some of the main things you can do, so you know ahead of time.

  • Removal of the sink is highly suggested for microcement and traditional refinishing, and required for custom epoxy
  • Remove all loose items from the room
  • Dust the room to keep dust from landing in the fresh coating
  • If water and power are not available, we need to know ahead of time - the same goes for heat in cooler months
  • If anyone in the home has respiratory issues, we recommend they find somewhere else to be for the day in the case of traditional refinishing
  • All walls must be sealed, so there is no open framing or areas where dust cannot be controlled
How do I take care of my countertops once they're refinished?

We typically recommend a cleaning solution of 50% vinegar, and 50% warm water, with a few drops of dish soap applied with a spray bottle, and wiped with microfibre towels, though any standard non-abrasive bathroom or kitchen cleaner will do.

Magic erasers are great for removing tough spots, and spray on Turtle Wax applied liberally every 3 to 4 months will extend of the life of the coating dramatically.

Do I need to be home?

Nope! You are free to leave, and we will call you if we have any questions or problems.

When during my remodel should I have my countertops done?

As a rule of thumb, refinishing is typically done after paint, after fixtures are removed (appliances, sinks, etc), and before flooring. Working from the top to the bottom of a room is usually a safe bet.

What are my options regarding backsplashes?

Yes, we work with you to determine the best course of action for backsplashes. Typical options include;

  • Removing built-in backsplashes from prefabricated countertops, and leveling to allow a new backsplash to be installed
  • Refinishing separate backsplashes during the process, and mounting them after everything dries
  • Adding new backsplash, and apply our coatings and sealants over the counter and backsplash simultaneously for a seamless look
  • Additional backsplash options, including tile, glass tile, microcement, and more
  • Full-height backsplashes available
How do I pay?

You can pay with cash, check, or bank transfer, or for a 4% fee card fee, we also accept most debit and credit cards. If paying with cash, we ask you pay the technician on site, so it doesn't get lost in the mail.
